This is the second time we have stayed here because it was so good last time.
The room was bright, clean and comfortable with everything you need and more.
E.g. ‘real coffee and milk,’ fridge, sherry, boiled sweets, spare toiletries, tissues, dressing gowns.
Lovely freshly cooked breakfast with a great choice including fresh fruit salad and juice.
Friendly, welcoming hosts including the dogs! Read less

"A thoughtful, thought through guest house"
The charming couple who own and run Magpies provide an outstanding service to their guests. Nothing is too much trouble and the room touches, such as confectionery, novels, coffee pods, adapters and sherry demonstrate a level of service-orientation beyond most chain hotel groups ken. Add to that a beautifully cooked breakfast tailored to individual taste and the result is virtual perfection in hospitality, aka Magpies. Read less
Likes:
Serene location, home from home appeal, quality fittings, especially the bed and all the extras identified earlier in this review. Most of all, the owners-hospitality is them.
Dislikes:
Nothing Serious The Garden Room shower is only mildly powerful; a shower cap would be a nice addition to the extensive list of extras; & Tesco-quality toast (slightly) lets a wonderful breakfast down.

"Welcome to Magpies. Come and stay at our comfortable West Sussex home from which you can enjoy the many and varied attractions the area has to offer" - Jane & Kevin Hogg

Magpies is an interesting house, the heart being an 18th Century barn around which the current house has been constructed. We are a Bed and Breakfast establishment. We have two NON SMOKING letting rooms.

Hambleden, on ground floor, is a spacious room, with seating overlooking the garden, king bed and en suite shower room.

Roundell, on ground floor, has a self contained suite of bathroom, separate toilet and large bedroom with super king or twin configuration off a private central lobby.

Both rooms have outside access, TV, hospitality tray, fridge, hairdryer and free WiFi.

We don't have facilities for babies or toddlers but this year we are being more flexible with family groups so give us a call for possible arrangements. We have blow up beds and Hambleden has a sofa bed. Also call direct for discounts.

We have a friendly Springer spaniel who will give you a noisy welcome.

The property has ample grounds including a part walled garden, various courtyards and seating areas and an outdoor heated swimming pool open in the summer. (If the weather is cold the pool water is cooler) We have plenty of parking, some covered.

Magpies is situated on the A29 Stane Street, just on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Slinfold with its pub/restaurant, church and village shop. Magpies shares a drive with Random Hall Hotel which has a restaurant open to non residents.

The historic town of Horsham is 4 miles away with its busy market and good selection of high end retail chain shops and restaurants.

Nearby towns include Petworth, Arundel, Chichester and Brighton
