"Cozy elegance"
We stayed at Highfield House on the last night of a two-week vacation in Ireland. We chose Trim because of its proximity to the airport, but it is a lovely town in its own right. We only had time for a quick walk by the castle and a late meal at a very good Indian restaurant recommended by our host. We were sorry to leave Trim and Ireland the next morning. Note: your GPS will probably direct you to the wrong address. You should call en route to get exact directions to Highfield House. Read less
Likes:
Welcoming host, beautiful elegant house, good accommodations. The breakfast was typical of many B&Bs, but with a menu offering more options than usual, and nicely cooked to order. Good coffee!
Dislikes:
Ireland has been experiencing unusually dry and warm weather lately. Normally, there is no need for air conditioning, or even fans, but we were a bit stuffy with only one window and no cross-breeze.

"Excellent in all respects!"
Arrived from a long day of driving and was greeted with a beautifully maintained 19th century building with lovely gardens at the entrance. The hosts were very friendly and such a pleasure to talk to. Our bedroom, a generous size with a comfortable bed dressed with fresh, crisp white sheets and soft warm comforter. The breakfast was a bounty of fresh fruits , homemade scones and jams, cold cereals or hot porridge if you wished. Hot breakfast made to order, full Irish or a la carte. Delightful. Read less

The location could not have been better. Right across from Trim Castle and just a short walk into the village. And good base for the drives to Newgrange and Knowth.

Welcome to Highfield House Bed and Breakfast...
Céad Mile Fáilte... Highfield House is an elegant, 18th Century residence run by Edward and Geraldine Duignan and situated in the beautiful historic town of Trim, which is renowned as one of Ireland's most beautiful towns. The award winning accommodation boasts magnificent views of Trim Castle, The Yellow Steeple, and the River Boyne.

The house was built in the early 1800’s and was opened as a stately maternity hospital in 1834 and remained so up to the year 1983, making it 175 years old. Many local Irish and those who emigrated from this area would have been born in Highfield House.

A host of original, antique interior features still remain including high ceiling rooms, wooden floors and wooden ceiling beams. Highfield House is surrounded by beautiful gardens for guests to experience.

The central location of Highfield House affords an opportunity to tour the various sights and attractions that County Meath has to offer, including Trim's magnificent Anglo-Norman Castle and nearby Bective Abbey, the Hill Of Tara, Newgrange and Kells. Visitors can also enjoy the wonderful Heritage Trail along the River Boyne.

If you are flying in or out of Dublin Airport and don't want to deal with all the traffic and congestion in Dublin then Trim is a perfect alternative, an easy 45-minute, 30mile drive away.
